OKLAHOMA LAW ENFORMENT RETIREMENT SYSTEM
The Executive Director (Agency Director) serves as the managing and administrative officer of the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System (OLERS), retained by and reporting directly to the thirteen (13) member Board of Trustees (“Board”), including the President. The Executive Director shall be responsible for the overall operations of the System, in charge of the office, its records, and the supervision and direction of the employees of the System, subject to the duties set out in the statutes of the System and the polices or directions of the Board of Trustees.
The Executive Director’s duties are defined by the Board, and include, with advice and counsel from the Board, achieving the long-term polices and strategic objectives established policies and strategic objectives, directing the System employees, and ensuring that management activities and decisions are within Board-approved polices. Duties also include the planning, execution, and control of retirement system operations and the analysis and resolution of operational, administrative, and technical concerns. The Executive Director is also responsible for recommending or implementing new policies when directed and approved by the board of trustees, modifying existing policies that have been approved by the board of trustees, and/or interpreting statues. The Executive Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the agency.
In addition to ensuring that the day-to-day administrative function are carried out, the Executive Director oversees a number of outside contracted services, including actuarial, investment consulting, investment management, account administration, internal and external auditing services, and custodial services.
The Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System (OLERS) mission is to administer retirement / survivor retirement and medical benefits for members of the law enforcement profession of the state of Oklahoma and their families.
