HB 2742 Information
House Bill 2742 was passed into law on May 13, 2020. This bill has caused a lot of confusion and I hope I can shed some light on the situation.
HB2742 DOES NOT take any funds out of OLERS and it DOES NOT affect your monthly pension benefit.
What HB2742 does do is reduce the amount of dedicated revenue we receive from the Insurance Premium Tax for FY 2021 and FY 2022. The bill also increases our share of the Insurance Premium Tax for FY 2023-2027, but not enough to offset the decrease. This will not bankrupt OLERS as we are a well-funded healthy pension plan and we only expect a minor decrease in our funded ratio.
Please give us a call if you have any questions.
The Governor has declared an emergency caused by the threat of COVID-19 virus and issued instructions for all state agencies to work from home. OLERS has transitioned our staff to remote operations and we are still operating at 100%. We had procedures in place to support remote operations and have lost no functionality. Your monthly pension will still be paid on time and as always, you can call anytime during our normal work hours and we will still be answering our phones.
The only change for membership at this time is that our building is currently closed to the public so please call, fax, or email instead of coming to our office.
OLERS has a Member Self-Service Website that can be used to change addresses, look up account information, run estimates and more. OLERS MSS Website
